私はインプラント治療の研修の前に、実は歯周病の研修から開始しました。
今、私どもが行っているGBR療法の基礎は、このPro. Lindhe, Pro. Nyman 両教授が発見した、GTR（Guided Tissue Regeneration）を基にしています。
当時、1970年代後半から1980年前半、国際歯周病学会の一大トピックでした。私は、金沢大学附属病院時代の先輩（釧路市、中村先生）に紹介され、幸運にもこのすばらしい両先生から、直接講演や臨床指導などを受けることになりました。

This was Dr. Watanabe's first overseas study tour. Before he began studying implant treatment, he studied periodontitis. The GBR treatment we use is based on GTR (guided tissue regeneration) which was discovered by Professor Lindhe and Nyman. From the last half of the 70's to the first of half of 1980, GTR was a big topic at international periodontitis disease conferences. Dr. Watanabe was introduced by Dr. Nakamura of Kushiro, an upper classman when they were both working at Kanazawa University Hospital, to these professors who have been kind enough to teach him directly and to give him clinical guidance.
