この女性の場合、わたくしは強く印象に残っています。
この方は、ご主人は会社勤めの管理職の方で、お子さんは皆さん社会人になられておりました。大変に恵まれた環境の方でした。少なくとも側目にはそう見えました。
This patient stands out in my memory very strongly.
This patient seemed to be enjoying her life in very lucky circumstances with a good husband who is an company executive and with their brilliant children who earn their own living.
治療前の状態 Condition before treatment
しかし、実際にはそうではありませんでした。
御本人のお話によりますと、「左右の奥歯がなくなってから、ものがよく食べられず、困っていました。そして、何回か、入れ歯も作っていただき、入れてみました。しかし、どうしても入れ歯が歯茎を押しつけ、痛みと不快感で、毎日が次第に暗くなってきました。」とのことでした。
そして、「こんなに毎日、食事をする度に暗くなってくるならば、死んだ方がましだ」と考えた事が度々あったそうです。決して、そんなに深刻に考えていたわけではないと思いますが、それでも、友人から旅行に誘われて出かけると、決まって、食事に時間がかかり、食べ物を残したままバスに飛び乗ったりしたそうです。また、朝、旅館で洗面の時、友人に入れ歯を洗ったりするところを見られたりするのは、本当に恥ずかしく、つらくなってしまうので、次第に旅行も行けなくなってしまったとのことでした。
こんな時、雑誌でインプラント治療の事を知ったそうです。紹介者の先生は、東京の先生でしたので、東京で治療する時間がとれないと諦めていたそうでした。
ところが、知人の銀行の方や、友人から、当院でのインプラント治療の事を聞き、早速当医院においでになられました。確か、８年前のことです。そして、インプラント治療をお受けになられました。
However, she didn't sound so lucky when we counseled her.
She complained, “When I lost my back molars on both sides, I couldn't chew very well. I have had false teeth made many times, but they pushed hard against the gum causing pain, and my days were getting darker and darker.
Also she said, "I often thought that I'd rather die than be depressed every time I had a meal." I don't think that she thought of death that seriously, but she added that she couldn't go on trips with her friends since she had to quit eating in the middle of a meal and get on the bus because eating took her so long to finish. Also it was very embarrassing for her to brush the artificial teeth in front of her friends in the morning at the hotel.
At such a time, she learned about implants, but the doctor who introduced her to the treatment was in Tokyo, so she almost gave up since she didn't have the time for treatment there.
However, it was 8 years ago as I recall, when an acquaintance, who was working at a bank ,and her friend suggested to her to have treatment at our clinic. She visited us for treatment.
その後の人生の変化 Changes in her daily life after treatment
インプラントの人工歯が入り、しばらくして患者さんは私にこう言われました。
「わたくし、生きていて本当に良かったと思います。こんなに素晴らしく人生が輝けるとは、思いも寄りませんでした。そして、まさか自分がインプラントをした後に、こんなにも明るく振る舞えるなんて、想像もできませんでした。先生、本当に有り難うございました。心より感謝いたします。」と、涙ながらに言っていただきました。
Soon after treatment, she told me, "I am so happy to be alive. I couldn't imagine that life would become so wonderful.. Also, I didn't expect that I would become so cheerful.. Dr. Watanabe, thank you from the bottom of my heart," she said in tears.
